iOS 14.2, iPadOS 14.2, macOS 10.15.7, tvOS 14.2, watchOS 7.1, HomePod software 14.2 update released by Apple

Apple has released software updates for its iPhones and iPads, smartwatches, HomePods, tvOS and laptops. iPhones received iOS 14.2 and older models received iOS 12.4.9. Apple Watch models have received watchOS 7.1, HomePod and tvOS have software version 14.2, and macOS has received the Catalina 10.15.7 supplement update. The iOS update has a lot of improvements and major improvements while watchOS 7.1 brings ECG functionality to additional areas, among other features. The HomePod update enhances home theater support, along with various bug fixes.

IOS and iPadOS updates are available for iPhone 6s and later, iPod Touch 7th generation, iPad Air 2 and later, and iPad Mini 4 and later. iOS 14.2 More than 100 new emojis bring eight new wallpapers in both light and dark versions, notifications for headphones audio levels that show alerts when volume can affect hearing. Additionally, there are new AirPlay controls, intercom support with HomePod and HomePod Mini, and users can now connect HomePod to Apple TV 4K to get stereo, Dolby Atmos audio and surround sound.

iOS 12.4.9 Brings significant security updates for older iPhone models. This is for the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2 and 3 and iPod touch (6th generation)

The iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation), and iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) magnifiers can now detect nearby people and LiDAR sensors can show their distance. Support for iPhone 12 leather sleeve has also been added with MagSafe.

With all, ipadOS 14.2 The camera app brings auto FPS and scene detection for better video and photo quality. There are several bug fixes including the camera viewfinder bug that appears black when launched, lock screen keyboard missing touch, problems with photo widgets, and more.

Guard 7.1 The update adds support for the ECG on Apple Watch Series 4 and later for the Republic of Korea and Russia. These areas also find support for irregular heart rhythm information. This fixes a problem with the Apple Watch with Mac not being able to unlock it. When the audio level is too high, watchOS 7.1 also brings information.

With HomePod and tvOS software Update 14.2, Users can now pair up to two HomePods on an Apple TV to get stereo and surround sound with Dolby Atmos. There are also several bug fixes.

Ultimately, macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Supplemental update has been released. This brings a host of security updates, including a memory corruption issue (CVE-2020-27930), a type of confusion issue (CVE-2020-27932), and a memory initialization issue (CVE-2020-27950).
